The artwork is old. It was in the temporary PATH station for years until they moved it a few months ago. I think it may have been salvaged from the original, pre-9/11 PATH station, though I don't know that for certain.

Has anyone noticed the number of "ribs" installed per month? At this speed, should it be finished within the next 6 months? I am not saying fully completed, but the bigger pieces should be all in place, shouldn't they?

It looks good but that art work should be removed. It looks cheap and uninspiring. It should be replaced with something that's sophisticated like the city.

Hmmm. I like it. In general, the art installations in the subway system are nice.

I think six months is pretty reasonable, especially with the warmer weather. If the rafters go up quickly, I don't think it's impossible for the entire steel structure to be done by the end of the year. That's a bit optimistic, but I'm hopeful.

Looks they're opening the platform today: a few temporary wall were down already @ 7 am, when I was there.

"The mosaic was made by the Friuli Mosaic School of Italy and is a personal gift to New York City from Italy to commemorate the 9/11 attacks. The mosaic in itself is a demonstration of the earthquake that occurred in Friuli in 1976."

Yeah it's totes ugly let's get rid of it.

Yes, this happens quite often in the morning (in Europe! this means during nighttime in New York), maybe beber's NAS is not online all the time? Because the links are referring to the network attached storage from where you are redirected to the internet adress of the newest picture..

The old links are working, so the cam is ok, although they do not update during every night. (Of course, the old link to the oculus cam is still dead)

My ISP is having some issues this past few days, so I took the earthcam script offline while they fix whatever the problem is. Everything should be back to normal in roughly 24 hours, so don't worry. In the meantime, here's a direct link to the most recent picture. Just replace "0846" in the URL by the time you want (hint: a new picture is taken every 30 minutes).

PS: If anyone with a decent php server want to host the script, please PM me.

Two upper portals went in on the west side (one on each side) yesterday. Two transition segments are going in now. One on the southwest and one on the southeast.

I assume you are being facetious, MrAnonymous :-) It was very generous of the people of Italy to donate this artwork to commemorate 9/11 and their own earthquake, and we should honor the gift with a suitable location.
