I wonder how they will keep pigeons and other birds off of the rafters.

Ironic that it will be shaped like a bird in flight...

I believe there are sonic devices that should keep the birds away harmlessly. But I have no idea if they will be used here.

The juxtaposition of the ancient church and graveyard with the uber-modern transit hub will be striking when complete and cleaned up. Can't wait.

The ancient church is St. Paul's Chapel, and it's the oldest public building in continuous use in New York City. How old is it? Well, it's so old that George Washington went there and prayed just before he was sworn into office as our first President on April 30, 1789.

Yes... New York City's oldest and newest buildings sitting side by side will be an amazing sight indeed!

Indeed. I did not give the name of St. Paul's Chapel because I assumed anyone on this blog would know it. It was completed in 1766 and is modeled after St Martin-in-the-Fields in London (1724). It survived the Great New York City Fire of 1776 as well as the collapse of the Twin Towers.

Wow, SOOOOOO old!!

Sorry for the OT, but in my city, Roma, there are a lot of building of the 16th-17th century and the oldest buildings has more than 2000 years
On the other end we don't have so much modern architecture
