Transition segment being lifted for installation and another rafter has arrived. What do you guys think the white stripes on the south entrance roof are? Prep-work for some kind of covering?

Probably right. We'll see when the sun hits it.

First of last three transitions is up. White stuff on entrance is still there, and nowhere else, so probably not snow.

You guys seriously need to post smaller sized images.

I need a 70 inch monitor to view some of them.

Why are parts of the pieces completely (seems they are galvanized) and other parts of the pieces "rusty"?

Is there an ironworker or a welder that could answer this question? Is the "rusty" part easier to weld? Are the galvanized parts impossible to weld?

thanks

they are primed in the shop to take the intumescent paint.

areas that are prepped for welding are left as plain iron. they will be ground clean prior to welding.

Does anybody know what grade of steel the various components are made of? I'm assuming it's just a normal mild steel but I could be wrong.

It is all temporary as that venting and mechanical is used for the infrastructure of the Transit Hub. Once the tower starts construction again, all of that will be relocated out of sight.

Can't help thinking that it is a wrong placement for this white "bird" in that cramped space. Looks like it deserves more air around it. (Not been there - yet.)
