Quick question, when the rafters start to get to a considerably large length with they start to be broken into sections that will be fastened and welded together, and then painted over the seam?

Most likely. I can't see how it would be physically possible to put those long ones on a 18 wheeler like the rest lol.

At least with large bridge components, I've seen the member act as part of the vehicle. I did a quick google search for the below picture.

However, I bet the yellow trailers are still available. I'm pretty sure that the longest rafters are longer than the longest portals, so I assume they will be brought in sections. As Zackalax13 said, Otie should know.

My apologies, I am wrong.

Cimolai is reporting that all rafters were fabricated as single pieces. The final logistical solution the PA team and construction management folks opted for is to use a route that doesn't imply sharp turns and narrow streets, this means going against traffic flow on specific areas, police escorts will be temporarily closing some streets during the night. I don't have the schedule.

FYI, longest rafter is located on +14 NE, it measures nearly 190ft!

Thanks for the inside information Otie!

Wow.. 190ft. That's a cantilever of almost 60 meters (at an angle, but still). Almost as long as the width of a soccer field. Surely one must go see this in person to grasp the massiveness of the structure.

The only logical decision. The same was done with 1 WTC's spire peices.

They've lifted another rafter on the West side, it's the 9th one.
