I don't think most people on this forum would agree with you about 1WTC. I think it is elegant in its simplicity.

Cheap looking cladding + boring shape that doesnt do justice to the iconic twins (yes they were just boxes but nowadays possibilities of design are much greater than druring the 70s) + Northeast Asia Trade Tower ripoff + Unaesthetic and unecessary tall spire.

Libeskind's design should have been the one...

Hopefully 2WTC sould be there to rectify the 1TWC mistake.

Boring shape? Cheap cladding? man what are you smoking? it shape changes depending on the angle from which you are looking at it. Yes from some angles it does resemble NATT (although rather larger) but from other angles it revokes the shape of the twins. And the Spire is quite interesting and gets the tower to its "official" 1,776 ft height which is just bad ass. Plus once 2 and 3 are finished the whole complex is going to look pretty sweet.

On Topic: the hub is really starting to shape up. I can't wait to see how massive the longest rafters are.

Libeskind's design was an enormous glass monument. It was beautiful, but it was not an office building. Remember, we're replacing the Twin Towers here, the paragon of corporate efficiency (for it's time).

I normally would just ignore comments such as yours, however you do realise that One World Trade Center had its design finalised at the beginning of 2006, with foundations starting in April of 2006. The Northeast Asia Trade Tower started it's foundations at the end of July 2006, therefore One World Trade Center is not a rip-off as it was being built first.

I also find it quite funny how One World Trade Centers cladding transcended perfectly between each window, making it seem as though the building is a sheet of glass, whereas the Northeast Asia Trade Tower has major inconsistencies in the cladding and already appears out-dated. Besides if you would like to comment on ONE WTC go somewhere else, this forum is for the transportation hub.

I'm starting to really look forward towards the completion of this. It's shaping up nicely and it's will look amazing. This will be a truly iconic transport hub.

Geez !! Is it me or they have pick up pace ?

It seems to me the rafters are going up one per day... Or is it faster? Has anyone kept track of the working pace?

Thanks!

Was at the site an hour ago - heres some images. Looks great in person, huge, and the memorial is so nice as you walk right into it now from the street:

I love how many people visit the site each day, despite the Media fear mongering of the WTC being the "prime terrorist site". It shows that there is still liveliness in that part of the city, and that what was once a hole is once again filled with life. It should send the image to the developers that the demand for the towers will indeed be there, so that they can finally finish the place and forget worrying about the site any longer.
