I've worked in fabrication shops where the tolerances we held with so critical that we couldn't even open the door during the machining process or parts wouldn't match up. I've worked in the field installations with tolerances that are many times tighter than what's required for this structure. In reality for this structure only the 2 adjoining pieces have to meet, there is actually no critical fit between me of the pieces such as slip fits or interference fits. The design of this project, the manufacturing of sections and the assembly have many problems that could be easily avoided if true engineering processes had been applied.
Well I'll tell you what, it's a damn shame the PA didn't accept your bid to build the station. It would have been done by now, and for half the cost!

You did bid, didn't you?

I haven't seen the Gehry + Calatrava viewpoint before. Should make for a great photo when the Transportation Hub is finished.

That Gehry abomination should be torn down. Gehry doesn't deserve to be in NYC. He's a crap architect.

Past few days has seen lots of new scaffolding on SW corner. Perhaps next big delivery of rafters will be for the SW and NE sides?

He has some good buildings. The tower in questions is a bit of a disappointment in that it looks half-done in a way, but the good side is far better than a glass box.:

The station is fantastic. A fitting gateway to a 21st century starchitect complex. Hopefully in the future we will see it being used as a gateway to the airport too!

I do think that in the 2020s a direct Newark-WTC-JFK/LIRR train service should be introduced.

[QUOTE=Riley1066;115249126]That Gehry abomination should be torn down. Gehry doesn't deserve to be in NYC. He's a crap architect.[/QUOT

Off topic but as the thread is kinda slow right now....
Thanks God i registered to that forum!
Actually,i am a poor newbie and i was not aware that world famous architecture critics release some thoughts there. As an example i am so candid and ignorant that i used to consider Gehry as a master,a pure genius:Pritzker price, recipient of numerous prestigious awards, wooed by his peers the word "starchitect"was invented for him!Dad told me the guy revolutionized Architecture and grandpa
once brought me at the Disney Concert Hall just like if it was the San Peter cathedral.I read in newspapers that "NY by Gehry" was a seminal masterpiece, maybe the best tower in half a century...
But no,they are definitely all wrong and there is no way to argue:"He's a crap architect".

...Good Lord!!..that smells s...!(i wish every city in the world had a piece of crap like that....)

As pointed out by a previous poster, the Eiffel Tower was built over 100 years ago without the benefit of any of today's modern technology yet it only took 2 years to build! Over 70 years ago the Pentagon, is still one of the world's largest buildings at 6.5 million square feet was built in 16 months, again without the benefit of today's modern technology! It certainly seems like the human factor gets in the way more these days with people not committed to making things work like they used to. It applies to this building as well as others in this complex as well as others in the world but it does seem that the ones in America have the most problems!
That's easy to say but how do you expect anyone to work as fast with an Iphone/pad in one hand ?

I think it is by far the best he has ever designed as it actually looks like a building and not like a trash heap (such as the thing Hemeroscopium posted above.)
