Any idea how much time will be required to paint the whole structure when once it's built?

If it goes at the same pace as the rest of the project it shouldn't take more than a couple of years!

Speaking of Paint...how often would they have to re-paint this structure so that it retains its whiteness or is it just a one time thing?

Some of the rafters are now fully welded and blend in seamlessly to the rest of the structure.

Well just compare the relative significance of the sites. The WTC (old and new) is globally recognized, as the site of a decade-defining tragedy, a massive and famously complex feat of engineering, and an unprecedented political shitshow because so many are asking it to be so many things... And all this happening in one of the world's top global cities.

Calatrava's Florida Polytechnic project is cool, but most people globally aren't even aware that the school exists, so it's understandable that there's a huge disparity in community interest levels. (But if you posted a comparison photo an a link to the thread, you might help boost its profile, and still be more on topic than 75% of SSC posts)

Somebody at some point made a collage of about a dozen Calatrava projects to point out their similarities. I think it was Traynor? Maybe this was on SSP.... whatever happened to that guy anyway?

(this post rated 75% on topic)

Edit: here's the link to the Florida project thread, if anybody is interested: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1544511

I have seen so many renderings of this project, would anyone be kind enough to post a most recent rendering of the one thats being built now? Also what is going to be surrounding the transportation hub? will it be asphalt (God i hope not) or will it be grass with walkways almost like the hudson blvd park

Which means we've now finally surpassed the halfway mark! 58 rafters installed, 56 to go

Does anyone know if there's any lighting scheme planned for the wings at night? Or will they stay dark?

first time on this thread and what struck me is how Calatrava's design is vaguely reminiscent of Lady Liberty's Crown, probably not intended. In any case, stunning, will be there in January.
