Getting ready to lift the fourth-to-last rafter. How long do you think the one delivered last night is? 80 feet?

And there it is

Otie, He's not asking about those hanging scaffolding things (those are pretty cool, and scary to think about hanging 100 feet out on a rafter that's not even welded in yet!). The question was about those six steel boxes that are welded to the bottoms of six of the purlins in the center of the north side.

@Wizsand: I think EACH of the 2 sections is at least 80 feet!

The next one will be the super-thick one at the end. I wonder how many pieces that will come in.

I've realized that for a week or so now they've been so rushed to install the final rafters of the North side that they've been installing unfinished ones. Of the last five rafters installed up to today, only one was properly welded, sanded and painted. I wonder how will they weld them now. I mean, I think the "rafter welders" will now get even more delayed considering they'll be working in the sky instead of on the floor, and they won't be able to use the platforms used to weld the purlins because the place were the rafters are cut in half is very far form there.

I would imagine they are fully welded before they hang them, just not painted. They can do that with the manlifts.

yeah the latest rafter has a bit of a wow in it right now, but once they get the base fit up, it will be fine.

Well, looking at the latest pic it does appear that not today's rafter but the one that preceded it has a bit of a bow in it. It does look better than it did earlier today though not 100%. Maybe in time it is something that will be straightened out, both literally and figuratively. In any case, just 3 remaining on the north side, 2 of which are on site.

From today. It's really interesting watching this thing go up on Earthcam and then actually walking by it. I haven't been to the site in 5 weeks but it always strikes me at how LARGE this structure is. Earthcam doesn't do it justice. It definitely makes an impression (whether negative or positive) and it's pretty dang hard to miss.

This is not a building but a sculpture/piece of art in my opinion, and it adds so much to the area
