Well, I must admit to much of my prides defeat, that this structure, as unusual as it is, is starting to evolve into something I like. I suppose it's growing on me. Or maybe I am just happy to see that the gray monster is turning into a beautiful white angel.

Remember I asked how they plan to support the first segment of the last rafter before the others are attached? Here's the answer:

Is this piece permanent or will they cut it off later?

It's easier to see the bracing tube when lit-up at night

I just realized that when 2WTC and 3WTC will be built, The Oculus will be almost completely hidden, squished between the two giants. We'll be able to see it only from the front or the behind. Sad.

I think you're the first person on SSC to ever be sad about 2WTC getting built!

Yes, that piece will be removed. It's basically just like the pieces they use to connect the base of the other rafters. It's an aligning bracket they used to hold the two pieces in alignment and position while they weld it.

It is how ship hull plates used to be bent, with a massive blow torch and water spray. Heating and cooling in the right way causes the metal to warp. Would that work on a 3 dimensional piece such as these?
I think this eyesore has been welded in and is going be this way forever.

While on earth cam, I noticed at about 4:00pm today, the last rafter for the Memorial side of the Oculus, was hooked up to the crane. 15 minutes later the Rafter was put back down and un-hooked from the crane. Does anyone know what happened or when they are going to finish installing the final rafter on the Memorial side and the next part of the Rafter on the Church Street side?

They took down the top part of the temporary wall of the PATH hall, so you can now see the ceiling looking towards the oculus.

There's a (very dirty) window you can look through to see what the entrance to the oculus is going to look like.

Is the subway box of train 1 going to be see-through? Or am I looking at something totally different under the stairs on that picture?

Slightly off topic, but we appear to have 2 cams.
