Did someone write "ass" on that rafter?

I can't wait till it's painted. That rust looks so ugly.

The Fulton Center is just gorgeous.

Wonder what the hold up is placing the last 2 sections of the rafters. 100 years later, honestly...

I wonder is the underground passage to Fulton station will be open together with the Path station?

Happy that someone like it to(i LOVE it!)and i know why you do..
Many people criticize the black color outside:they need some more time to appreciate.

I already posted the link to that article in post 5211 as well as another one regarding the opening of the Fulton Street station.

Yup. The MTA tunnel under Dey St now connects the R at Cortlandt St to the rest of the complex at Fulton St. Once the Port Authority underground areas start opening in December/January, they will connect to the R at Cortlandt and thereafter to the MTA tunnel under Dey St.

I think I know. The last 2 half-rafters likely won't be connected until the "base" sections for each have been welded. Unlike all the other 2-piece rafters which were welded together THEN mounted, for the last two the opposite is being done, and I am guessing that's because the last two are thicker and therefore much heavier pieces. This then makes them too heavy to be mounted as a single piece, so this other procedure is being followed. In any case, shouldn't be much longer before they are finished.

Seeing this in person, I was taken away by how massive this structure actually is. Photos don't do it justice.
Taken from my visit last week:

They put the last piece of the north rafter back on the ground. Looks like we'll have to wait some more.

Well maybe they just did a "test fit" of the piece. As I surmised earlier, I believe that the base piece needs to be welded before the last half can be bolted in place and eventually welded. What happened today would seem to support that (pun not really intended)
