What's that white bar across the middle of the opening? Is Wallenda planning to walk across?

No it keeping two sides of transportation hub together. If they going to remove it, the two side will just fall over on its side.

The structure doesn't work like that. That bar was recently added, which is temporary.

there'll be concerts or whatever going on. In the old WTC complex, there was a stage in the plaza where there would be concerts or whatever.

meh...

Actually due to the complexity of the structure (double cantilever portal/rafter), the tolerance of fabrications + other field conditions (I am not even gonna expand on the thermal expansion) I am surprised that it turned out this good. It would be virtually impossible to have a perfect alignment - unless if this was done on the moon maybe.

On the other hand, think of it as a human face: what can be perceived as slight flaws or imperfections are actually what makes an identity...

Oh who am I kidding - they are misaligned, so tear it down and spend another 2 years and 1 billion to set it right...

Project Manager says they will heat the rafters to get them into the tolerance spacing.

Painting won't resume until the weather allows it. Currently they are having rain, and snow is just next door.

WTC site at Church and Vesey Streets and is expected to form an underground connection between the World Financial Center and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Fulton Street Transit Center. Through it, pedestrians will have access to Hudson River ferry terminals, PATH trains, 13 subway lines, and possibly a direct rail link to JFK International Airport.

That would be great! Are we talking about an extension of the current airtrain line, or a new link?

Probably airtrain in it's current build because honestly: the second avenue subway and its extentions, an extention of the N train to LaGuardia, Triboro RX, and extending the Staten Island RR into Manhattan are Are more important to the survival of the city

It will likely be an extension of the PATH train to Newark airport. Don't ask 'them' how or when. 30 years?

Been following this forum for a while. I am wondering myself how this whole thing is going to work in January. What parts are opening and how are they tying this into the West Concourse. I think someone you might be able to get me some insight.

If all goes as planned, the last Favco crane should be removed by 12/6 or 12/13.
