Last Skanska crane to be removed this weekend.

Hammer head on its way.

Let's hope the Earthcams stay in service; they've been intermittently out of service recently.

Hammerhead to be place where and for what? Isn't the structure nearly completed?

That looks like a crane base. But if it's actually here, it's going to need one hell of a jib to reach over both extremities of the oculus.

Just one crane (which cannot be placed in the centre) for the whole skylight sounds definitely like a long jib. Or is the tower of the crane constructed around one or two of the rafters (similar as one of the two tower cranes at the NE quadrant of the memorial a few years ago, maybe some people here do remember, feels almost like a decade ago )

I thought of the exact same thing when I was trying to figure out how they could use a hammerhead. But it looks like a 80m jib could reach both ends from the location I posted, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I know this isn't "exactly" on topic - but they are taking down some of the scaffolding around the WFC that was covered in green. It seems they have "presto, chango" made a transformation, blending in what was a pronounced entrance. (or am I not remembering what was behind curtain #1?)

So they won't paint the structure before installing the skylight. If the hammerhead is assembled next week, does it mean that the skylight will start being installed pretty soon?

You give great insights Otie.

It will certainly bug many of us! For the amount of money spent on this project there is no excuse to have something that visible remain. It makes it seem like they were just being rushed so they finished it however they could.

Otie has already mentioned they will be heating up the misaligned rafters to attempt to fix the issue.

Is this the base for the hammerhead poking out behind the hub? Also, what are the beams they are lifting into it?
