Those big yellow beams were the base of the East crane. To spread the weight on the floor of the hub. Here's a picture from a year and a half ago...

I seriously doubt that they will do that, especially now that the rafters and the brace connecting them are fully welded, but we shall see...

The hammerhead crane (Liebherr 316) will be installed with another rig and not before the first week of January...

OMG, if they don't fix it...

What the hell is the point of building a sculptural, artistic building if it's not perfect?

They will fix it in Spring when the weather is warmer.

No sculpture this size is going to come out perfect, and most of the misalignments you have to be actively looking for to notice. But this one must be fixed. It must.

Otie is the one who has informed us that workers are going to heat the rafters to fix the misalignment. Rest assured it will be done

$1.5 Billion PATH Extension to Newark Airport from the WTC has been Approved! Construction Set for 2018

http://patch.com/new-jersey/hoboken/...m_medium=email

Quote:
Port Authority’s move to provide $1.5 billion in funding for the one stop PATH extension to Newark Liberty National Airport is being lauded today by New Jersey officials. The construction, set to begin in 2018, will provide an affordable commute for many, and convenient travel options for thousands.

The Port Authority of NYNJ also approved $6.4 million for planning for the project in the 2015 Capital Budget approved today. The $1.5 billion PATH extension will run from PATH’s western terminus at Newark Penn Station to the airport using existing Northeast Corridor rail lines.

About 3,000 passengers travelling out of Newark Airport each day would use the new extension to take a PATH train to the airport, according to a study investigated by NJ.com. The project, which would serve about 6,000 passengers a day, will take five years to complete, according to NJ Advanced Media.

Once completed, travelers arriving at Newark Airport will be able to take PATH trains to Newark Penn Station, Harrison, Jersey City and to the World Trade Center, a growing residential area in Manhattan, without having to change trains...

Kind of a big expense for a redundant service. But I suppose $4B is a big expense for a station not that many people (relatively) will use.

As much as I would like to see it fixed, I 'll believe it when I see it. Something might be tried for the worse condition, but as of now and to the best of my knowledge, no engineering, means & methods have been submitted for that.

And while I may not be on Otie's level, I am an "insider" on that project...

AC-500 got a grasp now on the Favco's boom.....it's work at the Transit hall is done. Job well done, Favco's (and of course the skilled operators who ran them!)
