They are like the London cabs. A classic design that may never change.

Side passes became dangerously narrow It looks very crowded at peak time.
Platforms 4 and 5 were much wider then 2 and 3

Cams are clear again. Looks like final skylight framing is starting to be installed:

Once the Old Station is demolished and Platforms C & D are completed. I believe at that time it will tie into the West Concourse, then be completed.

You will actually be able to get to Platforms A and B from West Concourse/1 WTC. There is a temporary "detour" route around the wall.

1 (Hoboken line) is quite narrow, and the stairs and escalators can't really handle the flow of an incoming train load of passengers so well. It way work well during off-peak hours though.

<edit> I forgot to mention that when there are bicycles on the platform, things tend to get even tighter...

I really wish that people would just refer to the thread where pictures are instead of copying all the pictures into a thread where they make comments on them! It takes up an awful lot of space on the forums and makes it much more difficult for everyone to read. Same for the original post that this person responded to. Instead of reposting all the pictures you could make a simple notation about pictures are located someplace with a link to where the pictures are instead of completely reposting them!

So yesterday I was at the WTC taking some photos of the New train station that had opened on Wednesday. I wasn't there for more then 30 seconds when the guard approached me pointing a Flash light and yelling at me to stop taking photographs... I had read a Hudson reporter article saying that it was legal to do so , which I told him. He said I had to delete my photos , I told I wasn't.... After a few more minutes oh arguing with him over it , he decides to give up and walk away. But as he was walking he said something threatening , I couldn't make it out...but I decided to call him out on it...which I realize was a mistake... He comes back over even more aggressive then the first time. I then ask for his name so I could report him , he refuses...so I go to take his photograph and he tries to reach for my camera. I decided to leave the station not wanting to escalate things further and on my way up I spoke with a staffer about the rules...Which he seemed unsure of...

During this whole time , numerous other people were taking photos with there phones....I guess because I had the big DSLR I drew attention to myself. But over the last few days 100s of photos of the station have been taken... I didn't delete the photos if your wondering I uploaded them to my Flickr... I know the PA had a Photography ban in the past , but over the last few years it has been quietly removed... I do hear of people being harassed in the Aviation & Bridge community from time to time...by Security Guards.. I don't spend much time at PA facilities aside from the WTC... I never saw any signs on the PATH , only a few at the Bus Terminal which were removed last year...and a few on the Bridges which were removed from what ive heard.

The Article where it says it legal http://www.hudsonreporter.com/view/f...ideographers-?
I did manage to take a few photos before I was yelled at...

[QUOTE=Nexis;123862191]I did manage to take a few photos before I was yelled at...

I was approached by a PATH cop at 14th st ( I think) about taking a photo with my phone. I complained to PATH, they replied it was not allowed (without special permits) and that it was posted on placards at each station, which is untrue.

Its a bizarre flip flopping policy depending on who you ask....and its frustrating...what happens when the full station opens are they going to yell and scream at all the tourists? What a PR disaster that would be....

The design matters little if then you spend nothing on maintenance. I can't speak for Japan, but having lived in both Europe and the US I can say this: in Europe (at least Italy and eastern Europe, can't even imagine how Greece is) the trains were new and "sleek", yet were vandalized, smelled bad, the air conditioning was often broken and was very dirty. In the US, in DC the trains look older but they are maintained, for the most part clean and without all the spray painting of criminals all over it, unlike Europe. Similar in NY but overall less clean than DC. Still so much better than Europe.

So if you ask me, better older designs as long as you spend the money with maintenance. Clean, rather than modern looking and broken.
