I once heard Calatrava didn't like the type of paint they used. I don't know if it's just me but doesn't that type make the steel look like concrete?

Does anyone actually know what type of coating (paint) they are actually using? I'm assuming it's at least some type of epoxy for durability.

This past week, I heard a lot of activity from behind the "walls" while walking from the top of the stairs / escalators to the current exit. I also see more bits of daylight through some small openings here and there. It does look like they are much closer to transtitioning away from the current entrance / exit for the PATH.

I thought they may wait until after the fourth before they make a change, as not to confuse any tourists...

and while I'm here, let me "rant" about the guys there getting in the way at the entrance.. You know, those goofy guys with Statue of Liberty crowns?? They are a royal p i t a and if they are allowed to conduct business (yes, making money) they should at most be limited to a booth, like the info booth there at Vesey and Greenwich and W Broadway... They are as much of a pest as the guys at ESB or the Elmos at Times Sq.

Also, there is no longer a plan for a "transition" phase. Before, they planned to open the corridors and new entrances while keeping the old entrance open for a few weeks before closing it. Now, they will just close it and open the new entrances at once.

I predict horrible backups and potentially dangerous situations between the time when the current entrance is closed and the connections to the subways open.

I project that at least 75% of the people who use the current entrance will use the new T2 entrance, because it's closer to the subways.
Looking in from the street, I see no way that the T2 entrance can handle even half the traffic of the current entrance, and there are days when it is very crowded.

Also, from the maps I have seen, the temporary corridors will be fairly narrow and somewhat winding.

I expect my daily commute will be hell for a while.

Which is why I can't imagine they'd close the current entrance before providing access through the south side of T2.

is there going to be a big announcement or maybe they will just do it at some point. I would imagine they might make a big deal like they did with the Platform. Should be interesting!

The entrance at tower 2 is still blocked off by chain link barriers, and there are 4-5 large metal tool chests being stored in the entrance area
