When the hub is opened, a huge lifeless hole in the city will be sewn back together, after almost 15 years. Then they need to finish the park to the south and the public areas of Lower Manhattan will be fully restored since 9/11.

The glass in the hub dome looks great.

I agree on with you on Penn Station (really, who wouldn't?) but I dont think I can concur about Grand Central. Remember, directly below the oculus is a shopping mall, the transit portion is off the west. While Grand Central certainly has retail, its main hall is a congregation point where people enter and exit the city, going about their daily business. It is elegant, understated, and beloved by most. The WTC terminal is yet to prove it measures up.

Well, I do not think so, the original Penn Station was an architectural masterpiece and became one of the endless debates on how to keep historical building in the future and as a result, we still have Grand Central.

This HUB is beauty, but Penn and Grand Central stations earned a place quite apart from what they achieved in the period. Penn Station was a great loss to NYC.

I was referring to the current Penn, not the original. No one will miss the current Penn when it's gone

How long until skylights are all installed and how long until the painting is complete?
Watching the skylight installation makes me think of the days when the steel structure was rising into place one piece at a time for this place.

They're going pretty fast with it. If they stay on track, skylight glass will be done by August.

Wow, kind of freaky how much the hub looks like the facade of the twins from the sides.
