It looks impressive but I wonder how look at a few years when those nooks and crannies become filthy from all of the dust and dirt in the air! Keep it clean will be a major project that I'm sure will not be done sufficiently to keep it looking like it does today.

There is already more than sufficient air for the fire to burn in large structures. Opening the top of the building is done to allow the smoke to escape to make it safer for the people trapped in the building as well as for firefighters. Ventilating the structure is done in all types of firefighting and most large buttons are required to have it done automatically.

Usually in big fires people die of smoke inhalation rather than from direct contact with fire.

AC of the permanent PATH platforms looks uneffective. It's way too hot downstairs

I think the bigger question that I have is, when are the corridors opening. Among other things. This site really has taken off. Colton or anybody? has anyone heard any rumors or anything.

Hello. Yes, it is quite frustrating knowing the corridors/entrances are STILL not open after months of delay. It seems like every new time frame they set is never met, which is why I don't like telling people projected openings for the Transit Hub projects.

However, it has been reported by some members on here that the entrances are being cleared out of construction equipment and that the fire alarm is being tested. Maybe that is a sign they are getting close?

On the upside, the delays may mean the Dey Street Passgeway connecting the Oculus to Fulton Center may actually open with the corridors.

There was a security lady that approached me while I was taking the same pictures. At first I was I was afraid, but she was really friendly: She said they're aiming on the last week of August... :-(

This picture shows the stairs and escalators going to and from the platforms below. The only problem I experience is that there isn't really enough room to accomodate the crowds of people that come off the (overcrowded) PATH trains during the busier times.. To me it is a big design flaw that would be way too costly to fix now...

Indeed its hard to get down on the platform when the train lets...I cringe on what happens when the full station opens...it will be a nightmare...

I went into the city yesterday. Having seen the hub only in photos gave me a false idea that it was smaller than it actually is. In person, it is massive.
