Best pic of that area in a long time. Amazing detail.

The end cap for the north end of the box girder is on site (arrow at right), and unlike the one for the south end, it appears to be in one piece.

I wonder what is the barbell-looking thing that has been there (arrow at center) for a while now?

Will there be a girder parallel to the east side of the truss? There appears to be connectors (circled) on the super columns for something else.

Unless the tower crane at the north pool is going to continue to lift stuff like rebar and forms for concrete, I don't see it being around much longer. The 18000 will probably finish placing the beams that connect to the two sides of the truss.

Looks like they are placing more beams for greenwich street, or they moved them around, the 18000 was attached to one of them

Well, there are several places in the country called World Trade Center. The NYC WTC was just the best-known because of the height of two of its buildings.

Ok, so it's three or four pieces after all. I think one piece, the western-most one, has already been placed, but of course the KPI TV cam isn't updating for a good view. Unlike the south end, none of these pieces were pre-attached to the normal sections.

Screenshot of a "The Rising" commercial showing the Oculus (sorry for the bad quailty)

As opposed to the Broofield animation, this one goes from west to east (to the Fulton Street Transit Center).

In the first two pictures it looks like a footing for a tower crane is right next to the 18000.

You're right, didn't notice that. Would be a logical position for the second crane.. can't be long until the 18000 has finished its work, just the southern beams over the subway box and the connection between box girder and northwestern supercolumn remains to be done, if I'm correct..?

Is it possible they'll put the tower crane from the North Pool there?

Most likely. They did with the other tower crane.

Before the KPI TV cam stopped updating again, I noticed that they were periodically working in a hole next to the 18000. They would cover up the hole when not working in it. I thought it was for the foundation of the hub until I saw the above pictures.

What do we have here?...

That was my first thought: arch pieces for the northern edge of Fulton. Either that or extensions of the truss beyond the super columns. But it's starting to look like they go beside/parallel to the east truss. I noticed a while back that there appears to be connections on top of the eastern super columns for something else. (Just like the western super columns have connections for both the truss and box girder.) The piece that is being lifted now looks mighty wimpy compared to the truss. They also placed a long piece next to the truss, yesterday I believe.

Guess it's a mini-truss:

Anyone else looking forward to the future where they traverse this lovely space every day? Hell, since I'll be a pharmacist, maybe I'll end up working in the mall.

For now, though, we get to enjoy the construction. It's going to be surreal to walk around when it is finished.

I'm looking forward to it. More people are going to use this station (especially if you include the Fulton St. station part) than any other part of the WTC. Unfortunately, the trains go to New Jersey, so don't expect the media to pay too much attention to it.
