Their have been Shake Shack stickers for 6 months on the windows but no real sign of progress. It makes me very uneasy about the WTC Hub retail...and delays so far this year only add to that...

According the LMCC, The final phase of the oculus is scheduled to open December 2016

Also note that the access through T2 and T4 is "TBD", but demo of the current path station entrance is TBD/2015.

The retail in both Fulton and WTC is operated by Westfield, so I wouldnt be surprised if they delay Fulton occupancy til WTC is ready. Meanwhile, over at Brookfield, the retail appears to be doing very little business, with one store already closed, and another that decided not to open at all.

Thats what they are aiming for. Lets all hope it stays true to the schedule. The one thing that did open was the roof of the oculus on 9/11, but only for less than an hour. I think some may have interpreted that as the opening. A lot of work is occurring on the interior. Its quite a work of art. A cathedral one might say.

I can't wait for it to be finished. Really the whole complex. I'm tired of it being a construction site. Now we just need WTC 2 start up, and its one step closer to the 2020 completion of the WTC Complex. An insider told me that the deal is essentially done with Fox, so WTC2 should kick up in 2016. Roughly a 4 year construction period. 2020 is the vision for completion that they are seeking. Also sites such as WTC5 are u/c. That being the temple or church.

How much ink has been spilled over Fulton vs WTC? People know the path hub is expensive, and the media will pounce once it opens and it's empty. More so than any other recent developments, because of it's profile.

Fulton isn't on anyone's radar.

Technically it's way older than that. But 1 year since completion, then yes.

GOOD! I'm not a fan of all this retail in malls.

Downtown is getting a lot more retail that is supposed to transform the area, but too much of it is basically within glorified malls right next to each other (Brookfield, Path Hub, Fulton Center).

I'd much rather Brookfield fail and have all downtown's luxury retail out on the street like 5th Ave, Madison Ave, etc.. instead of locked away in a mall. Hopefully as downtown's caché increases overall, high calibre stores (like the one that closed or the one that didn't even open, described above) will increase their presence on its streets in the heart of the district.

I think the reason it failed is due to the Mall catering to the Elite instead of the Middle Class 9 to 5 employee who works in or nearby Middle Class areas of Manhattan.

The justification for high end retail was that the Battery Park and Tribeca demographic is one of the higher earning in the city, but it looks like all that extra $$ goes to nannies and super deluxe strollers. Goldman is across the street, but they all work longer hours than the stores are open. Considering the number of people that walk through the Wintergarden daily, and eat at Hudson Eats, it is astounding to see how few wander into the stores. Sadly the recent store closure was Posman books, which wasnt an uber luxury store at all. I'd bet the remaining spaces fill with the mall regulars - Club Monaco is in process of build out - and that Gucci never opens.

I know I digress, this is not about WTC Transit Hub

Also seems like the whole thing won't open till the middle of next year, which is not that bad.

Some great pics from the same article

Two years ago, the Westfield Corporation and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which owns and is redeveloping the World Trade Center, said the mall would open in 2015. In August, however, Westfield told its investors that it would not open until the first half of 2016.
...

The Oculus should open in the first half of 2016, Mr. Plate said. During a visit on Monday, it looked fairly close to completion. Though the vast floor of grayish-white Lasa marble from Italy was largely covered by plywood, not much imagination was needed to see the glowing, cathedral-like space filled with visitors.
