One of my favorite parts of the design are the staircases at each end. They hover as if the nose of a spaceship pulling into a hanger.

When this is done, It should feel open and well lit for an underground space. That goes largely unnoticed. Even a plain but massive skylight would have made the spacemore claustrophobic, more subterranean. Somehow this design will make the underground levels feel like they aren't underground. Quite remarkable really. The vertical space obscures ground level quite ingeniously.

Are they planning to cover the "catwalk", the space between the wings and the windows? If that is left like that I think it's a serious design mistake.

No, you're right, it's still unfinished, see the difference?

Check some old construction pictures where the mockups of the catwalk and window glazing were on site -2013-2014 time frame. There are a number additional (3) pieces between each spar. Look for Otie's page.

this is the entrance to the transit hub/mall from the base of tower 4, its coming together really quickly, they seam to be working in alot of the white elements to relate to the calatrava portion.

One would hope, but the PA did hand out flyers in May, saying the T2 and T4 entrances "would open in a few weeks" before quietly scuttling that plan. They also give incorrect info to the LMCC on these entrances. I suspect the PA PR dept is out of step with the actual construction. We saw the same thing with the Fulton Center. They announced an opening date, then days before that date, another 2 month delay.

I don't think there's ever been a Calatrava building that's opened on schedule, but it's almost always worth the wait.

I take exception to agencies saying something will open in a month, only to say they need three more at the proposed date. Someone's project management skills seem to be a bit lacking.
