Great shots. Transportation hubs should look like cathedrals!

Contrary to the NY Times story, there was no access from the passage that runs to Brookfield. Is the only access currently open via T4?

I must say, it certainly lives up to the hype. It was interesting to watch people in the space. Everyone walked lightly and spoke in hushed tones as if they were touring an ancient cathedral. It's a beautiful space that will be even better once all the passageways are complete and open to the public. I think it will also look completely different at different times of day. Warrants MANY return trips.

It's beautiful and impressive, but I have to say I'd rather have another Penn Station or Grand Central Terminal or Hoboken Terminal.

I don't disagree. And I think there is much to be learned from the whole project. That said, it's here. It's built. I will enjoy it.

When will it be fully complete? There are still sections sealed off and no tenants have moved in yet.

Any time frame of when that will happen?

^ This station is far better than Penn Station and Union Station in D.C, I think this station is the nicest in America, far superior than Grand Central.

That's a bold claim. As architectural achievements, I think they are apples to oranges, born of different eras. But as train stations, the Transportation Hub is complete dwarfed by Grand Central. Grand Central Terminal has 44 platforms, dude.

Remember, this isn't really a train station so shouldn't be compared to Grand Central, etc. It's more a glorified subway stop, that's why I use the Canary Wharf comparison, etc. rather than trying to compare it to St. Pancras and similar large stations like that.

The only thing I don't like is that the station reminds me of a modernist cathedral too much which is a bit disrespectful i think given the site. I actually see in my minds eye a cross and pews when I see the interior. It even looks like there is an alter raised above. I'm referring to the stairwells at the ends.

The work is very 1960s utopian modernist I think and it looks like something out of the movie 2001 given all that whiteness. The Lyon terminal is too similar to this and the complex in Spain. However, it's the best modernist public space in NYC probably right now i think and one of the most dramatic stations in the world even if it's not very original looking now.

And Expanding with LIRR Eastside access under construction. No comparison in my eyes to Grand Central Terminal and WTC Trans Hub.

I'll be downtown this weekend to check it out... I like the inside so far from the pix.. especially with Old Glory hangin in one end. Too much cost overruns.. double its initial cost to $4 billion, but it looks awesome!

The way I've understood it:

Connection to E, Fulton Center, and Church Street: sometime in April

2WTC entrance: late spring, or May at the earliest in other words

The majority of retail: August, with the final platforms following shortly afterwards. Some minor work until the end of the year. The 1 station will probably take until 2018.

You see your profile picture? That is what this station needs. The trains currently rumbling and creaking through through look like shiny cattle cars compared to that and look really out of place! This station deserves a train that looks as modernist as the building and they need to be WHITE of course to fit the very WHITE theme!
