Correspond roughly to the highlighted area

If T2 entrance is really opening this week, those doors would have to be locked until they create a sidewalk to/from there.

EDIT: just checked Earthcam again, looks like they're putting out barricades to create a "walkway"

Looks like they've planted trees in the area between the oculus and 3WTC, I assume that area opens to the public reasonably soon?

Just out of curiosity. once the temporary station is demolished, will we see the area that should be apart of Greenwich street turned into the street before construction of the PACWTC?

The pathway of the road should become pretty apparent in a few months, however they likely won't pave it for a while. Not sure of exact logistics at this point in time.

Well somehow, it seems the West Concourse connection directly into the oculus will be opening next Monday the 27th.

When you come down the escalator from vessey street you see a hallway with the area blacked off. Is that for the E train or is that the real North Concourse. Also when will the connections for R from the South Concourse and the oculus open. Plus how long until we see the E train.

The blacked out area in the photo above is simply a short concourse that leads into 2 WTC. On the upper level of that concourse, you will eventually come to the unfinished E train connection. There's also an E train connection on the upper level near the Fulton connection, NE corner of Oculus.

Both RW connections and the E train connection are opening at the end of the year.

Weidncol, do you know if they still preserved the World Trade Center E Train Entrance that led directly into the original concourse, next to Newsstand & Novelties? That's also where the entrance to the first temporary PATH Station was.

Sadly, no, it appears they are redoing it. I would think they could've opened it by now if they kept it the same.

Is there ANOTHER connection to the RW other than the one from the east end of the oculus? For the number of passengers that take those trains, 2 entrances seems like a lot!

I went from the oculus level up to the street through the new entrance level yesterday. Its an escalator, then about 25 steps, and another escalator up to street. Also the balcony level is now open from the north entrance, around to the east to the south entrance.

They were painting the beams last night, AT 7:30PM!! so it looks like they are rushing to get the area done to connect the west concourse to the oculus asap.

It's great to see many of the connections opening. As someone local, a giant milestone for me will be the demolition of the temp path station. For those heading south on Greenwich or West Broadway on foot, the temp path is unsightly, and incongruent to the area. It's also the last remaining reminder of the old. Removing this, is going to make the entire site so much more accesible. I remain optimistic that the demo will begin next week and that structure will come down quickly. It would be great to see a road by end of the summer.

I do have a question though. There is a pitch or incline where the temp path exists. The macadam is on maybe a 2-3 foot incline (in the area the existing pathway to Greenwich exists). My question is will there be planing or excavation to level out. This is one thing that has perplexed me for years, why the grade was so different in this area and considering that this area will be worked on now, thought I would ask. It also affects the sight line of the hub center from this position. I'm guessing there won't be stairs? But then again, to the south side of 2WTC there appears to be about a half dozen stairs. And why haven't they closed that hole in the ground to the east of the hub. Even as they are actively working in this area to complete the stone work, that hole still exists. Vent?

Yes, the other RW entrance is in the south concourse right by the 4 WTC entrance.

I can tell you that it has long since been demolished. They couldn't have integrated it into the new mall anyway because that old passage sloped upwards about a meter to meet the original mall, while the new mall is actually a good half-story lower, which necessitates stairs going down instead of up.

I'm grateful that I got a chance to see that old corridor in person when the first temporary PATH station was still up, but in all honesty, it was a rather dull, cheap-looking corridor and wouldn't have fit nicely with the new mall at all, even if it were possible to incorporate it (but it's not reasonably possible anyway).

By the way, the name is actually "WTC Newsstand & Novelties", but the tenant taped a black sheet over 'WTC' after 9/11. Once the new connection opens next to it, I will plead with him to uncover it if he hasn't done so already (or if he hasn't been run out of business).
