They are testing to make sure it is water tight. The green dye is used because it is easy to see if there are any leaks.

Great progress.

Will this station actually be called WTC Transportation Hub?
Or is it gonna get a more pleasant, concise name? Memorial Station would be apt.

Well the prints call it "World Trade Center Transportation Hub", but people will call it their own way, like WTC Station, Calatrava's Terminal, PATH Hub, etc etc..

Second crane seem to be ready to go on the rails.

You can see a tower crane base has been delivered, and the two thin beams circled in red look like those that are supporting the base of the sliding crane. But before this crane goes up, they'll have to clean up all the steel currently in the way of the track.

Ladies and gents- the M1280D

As for the size, insane considering it's a tower crane! I took these tonight (6/2/12) and will try to go back during the week to see if I can catch more pieces

Impressive, thanks for the pics ! FYI, those crane sections are 4m wide, whereas M760D's (other cranes on the Hub) are 3m.

I don't know where this crane is going to sit, since pieces seem to already be stored in front of 3WTC :

That mobile crane there (LTM 1350) has got extra weight and the super lift wings on it, so I'm guessing it has something to do with the M1280D. I doubt that they will set it up in tower 3 but you never know, only time will tell.

My god, the sheer size of those crane bits makes you realize how easily you can underestimate the massiveness of the buildings and the entire complex.

I am really getting sick of all these changes, always to cheaper things, in these WTC projects. Frankly, I can't believe it is even legal to do this. If you bid on a project and won then you actually have to build it in accordance with your original bid.

I really want to look into who is monitoring this. It isn't right.

The Port Authority never fails to redesign every project.

Yep they are big... but have a look at this thread. It's a 2480D.. It'll be the first to climb as well.. It's a monster... Boom is 84 metres, 8 longer than the new 747-800.. can lift 300t at 14 metres.

Some new Calatrava arches went in over the weekend under the future Fulton Street, in the gap between the finished part of Fulton and Greenwich..

Any idea where the new tower crane will rise? There is one large gap near the north-western corner of the hub site, maybe there?
