The first part of these two structures is currently installed by a large crane:

Talked to my contact at Harris Candem and this is what I got: Koch want's to erect their Favco's but the stairs are being erected and they are behind. Koch's Favco's will go where the sliders are

So many questions. For starters, do you mean the steel stairs laying on their sides in the middle of the oculus and will the new Favcos be immobile tower cranes or will they be crawlers?

I thought someone said the new cranes were going to be outside the oculus.

I assume those are stairs (not sure to be honest) and as for the new Favco's I have a feeling they will be sliders as well. Seems like they would need a ton of boom to reach where they would need to set the massive pieces of steel. They wings are 150 feet tall plus radius on the boom. I still don't understand how they will sit in the hub and set the wings, seems like a tight fit between both sides of wings.

If I get any more info I will keep everyone posted

I guess we have to remember that there are curved pieces inside the oculus that support the wings. The pieces I'm talking about shouldn't protrude much farther into the oculus than the current overhangs, and because they are likely more complex to install it may take a month or two for their installation. I thought I read that two separate contracts went to sub grade steel and the superstructure. What I'm trying to explain, but possibly doing a bad job at is, maybe they need the cranes to install the bases of the flying ribs up to street level.

this will be a treat to watch unfold.

if the guy i spoke with at Koch a ways back was on point, they will be setting up 1280 favco's

they can carry up to 270ft of stick in those.

what i still dont know is where and how they will set the towers. the floor of the hub that the current 760's are sitting on is reinforced with a level below. i would guess we will see some significant shoring involved.
