Red X's Painted on ground level deck, north side:

Does any one else think the arrangement of those five X's resemble the four end points and the center of a crane support? That would be a good spot for one of the 1280's we have been waiting for.

Edit to add: I see several sections of crane tower sitting in the middle of the transportation level floor.

I was just about to post about those X's, looks like it could work

Those crane sections are used as temporary supports while they erect the diving boards. Here they are on the east side

Very original design! I know about three other buildings from the same architect which look exactly the same...

First pour of the street over the Number One line. It's visible on the KPI cam and here is a picture of the granite curb.

Granite curbs? Hope I'm not the only one whose never heard of such a thing. Gotta be pricey. In many ways I'm glad they didn't skimped on the rebuilding. But the conservative financial guy in me just can't justify all the extravagences.

Nice picture. To the extra spending. It's just like the open house for the press on the 11th anniversary where they showcased first class elevators and bathrooms. It's advertising that, "This is a world class building complex for world class tenants/ you'll be swinging in the big leagues if you work here."

America is a rich country. If we can afford $2 billion per nuclear submarine then we can afford to put some nice granite street curbs into the WTC site.

LOL. Yeah, America's got more money than brains it seems. I just wish I could recall ever seeing granite curbs anywhere else. Maybe in DC..?

I find it a little ridiculous considering all that can happen to em (i.e. spat on, skuffed, chipped, chewing gum stuck to them, bird droppings, cigarrette butts, etc).

Oh well, hope they keep em nice and clean at least.

Thanks for the info, as always. If I had to bet, I'd say it's to dismantle the eastern crane. And I wouldn't be surprised if the AC500 were to stand over those pink X's.

They aren't polished and will blend into the memorials pavers, which are also granite. It works, I doubt they are the same grade that would be used for a counter top.

I would think they use to move the bar around but it seems safe to say it will come down, who knows for sure though. They also slid it west but not by much

Well, AC500 is on site, eastern crane is moving toward the center of the hub, removing railing while doing so.

Now that the diving board is up, it isn't needed. Sure, they still might get a few bar deliveries for what's left to pour, but one of the mobile crane on site can handle it.

And by the way, last time the AC500 was here was to remove the 18000, just over a year ago. Let's just hope next time we see it it'll be for those 1280s. And the sooner the better.

That AC500 is HEAVY! I'm really surprised to see it going to be on that slab but I guess with all the bar they layed it can support it. There are some large beams on trailers there also so I guess it's for those but I have a feel for the 760 as well. We shall wait and see! They also better hurry it up, on the news they said by 5 tonight the dept of buildings has a stop work order for construction

Those beams are the rails. You can see they've been removed on the eastern part of the hub.
