Probably for safety/security purposes.
Work on the abutment reinforcement area.

Thanks, Otie. So we can hope that it will be back online soon, hopefully without interruptions when the most interesting steel for the hub will be erected

I'm not sure what you are saying. They set up the cameras because they thought it was an important thing to see. Here, from the Earthcam site itself under the link "about us" explains it best:

"As a pioneer of the network camera software and technology industry, EarthCam’s proficiency is unparalleled. Led by an executive team with over 60 years of experience designing, manufacturing, programming, deploying and maintaining webcam systems, the company is sustained by its successful recurring revenue business model of delivering webcam content and managed services. From entertainment and promotional applications for tourism, to monitoring and documentation for the construction industry, EarthCam provides hosted infrastructure to stream video to public websites and social media outlets, as well as archive high resolution megapixel images for producing cinematic time-lapse movies.

EarthCam webcam solutions meet the demands of major projects by combining the latest, most reliable hardware with smart, powerful software and superb managed services. From concept to execution, corporations and government agencies trust in EarthCam’s expert engineers to assemble, program, install and manage their network camera systems. When clients choose EarthCam, they get a complete, end-to-end solution, plus world-class customer service. "

Sorry I do not know what you mean "abutment reinforcement"

Not sure where you are refering to. Not sure reinforcement to anything is very technical.

I does look like they have set aside a couple sub-portals that did not fit.

There are two abutment areas, each at both ends of the oculus, these are a critical area to work since they mark the meeting place between the north and south superstructure. The operable skylight running longitudinal axis won't play any roll on the structure.

BTW there's actually only one camera. It's supposed to move around on a schedule and take snapshots pointing in different directions. But it seems that the motor is broken or something so it's taking the pictures but they are all of the same thing.

Looks like they're running out of places to put sub portals. I hope that next week, we'll see some portals on site!

I count 32 out of 48 subportals on place, then these lower portals will follow(50 pieces)

They're starting to install these large girders in the Path Hall between tracks 3 and 4. I'm not sure what they're for.

So the photo above is of the two center tracks, which have been in service throughout the construction? How soon can we expect to see the two east tracks (and associated platforms) reopened, and these center tracks closed? Has the west track been closed all along, and will it open anytime soon?

From east to west tracks are numbered 1 to 5, platforms are as well labeled from east to west A-D.

Platform A and track 1 is close to be turned over, fireproofing is complete, Otis is installing escalator trusses and even mural decoration has begun on the east wall.

edit: Tracks on service will surely close during 2Q 2013 or even earlier, everything on this area is moving per schedule.

Ok Swiddle found the right paper.

By 4Q of this year platforms A and B will be open, while platforms C and D under construction. East West corridor will be completed by then, leaving the remaining work to retail venture Westfield.

Wow seems like things are moving quickly by what your saying Otie. Do you think they could maybe even open the hub earlier them 2015 like maybe late 2014?

Last year schedule points opening by the end of 2014, but I wouldn't be surprised date gets pushed for any reason. NTA will be dismantled after the hub is open, then final phase of VSC will continue and hopefully a final design for whatever is going to sit on top of the helix adjacent to Tower One will be selected.

NTA= North Temporary Access
