Great stuff...but c'mon, explain why you ranked them that way

I definitely like the RATP logo - corporate and human and geographic at the same time

Cityrail Sydney...it's nice, but it hurts my eyes when I see it on an LED screen - it probably looks better in real life.

London Underground - it's a classic

STM - it's a really cool logo - even cooler if they have STM and AMT beside each other (The AMT logo is an arrow pointing upwards)

Tokyo metro - very 'kawaii' (cute) - if you look closely you can see an anime character

MTR - the stick figure makes me think of a cave drawing - 'see how public transport has evolved...'

This one from Bucharest makes me think of a superhero:

also, these are the current logos for Kuala Lumpur

(sorry the first logo is so large)

Cheers, m

Shenzhen

Nanjing

Good question. I've seen those logos all the time but never thought about which are my favorite ones. Maybe these:

1. Bilbao: very smartly designed by famous Otl Aicher to resemble a moving train wheel
2. Oporto: the beautiful M logo perfectly matches the elegant station architecture
3. London: the mother of all metro logos from 1918, very striking and influential
4. Novosibirsk: tunnel tubbings as a metro's most prominent feature depicted in a nice way
5. Kyoto: otherworldly and fascinating logo (though my first thought that it symbolizes the three rails metro tracks have is nuts because Kyoto's metro has overhead wires)

I like the old logo we had in Liverpool 20 years or so ago...

They replaced it with this...

..which is more obvious but much less individual or iconic. So I came up with this...

I like simple logos that are easy to read from a distance. When you are wandering around a strange neighbourhood, to be able to pick out the subway/metro/tube entrance from a couple blocks away is very handy.

Montreal:

London:

Madrid:

I don't like the Madrid logo, but when I was there it appeared that it was used effectively to signpost entrances to the metro.

Thanks for that. What don't you like about the 'M', if you don't mind me asking though?
