In the central zone, trains stop every 2 stations?

Not really. The platforms are just across each other on the same street from the intersecting street. The map just lists those out as two separate stations.

Calgary LRT is the most successful LRT in North America in terms of ridership, it is also my personal favorite LRT system.

I love the CTrain!
Despite all the propaganda about Calgarians being car crazy wasteland it has an excellent transit system with very high ridership. It serves just 1.07 million yet has ridership of 300,000/day, the highest of any LRT system in NA.
Calgary's CTrain is also the first mass transit system in NA to be powered by wing generated electrical power.

Is the downtown section open for regular car traffic or its only for LRT trains and busses?

Calgary is proof that a very wealthy car dependent city can become a transit city with very high ridership.

The question to me, however, is to what extent: Safety must trump

i see very good things of this system and i hear its legendary exactly a very car dependent city can also become a very transit orinted city.

Dallas Texas is an example i can say that is very car depended but brought Light Rail and communter rail and then it became more of a transit city now.

also i think a communter rail network would benefit calgary more Light rail is great and awesome but it can be complmented with a communter rail network to reach areas further out to serve the other communties.

but Calgary great job on your system and that its expanding even more its starting to remind me of not just Dallas but of also Los Angeles another car depended city becoming a transit city, Denver, Salt Lake city, Charolette, houston, portland oregon, Seattle washington, etc.
