Government session held in Ozurgeti, Guria Region

Georgian government will make 34 million GEL investments for various projects in Guria Region - Prime Minister Nika Gilauri announced at the session of the Cabinet, which was held in Ozurgeti, Guria, today.
Nika Gilauri said 19 millions would be allocated for development of road infrastructure in the Region and another key priority in the work of the government in Guria would be arranging water supply network with 8,5 mln GEL funding.
As for the governmental program of village assistance, 2,4, mln GEL will be allocated for its implementation in this region. Half a million GEL will be spent on accommodating and equipping projects for schools and kindergartens in Guria.

Dairy Group, the largest real estate agency in Qatar, is reportedly interested in investing in Georgia. Investors from the tiny Arab gulf state will arrive in a week and visit Tbilisi, Adjara and Samegrelo.
Qatari businessmen will pay a visit to Batumi, Anaklia and Senaki where they’ll see first-hand lands which could be the site of future tourism investment. Qatari real estate giant Dairy Group is reportedly interested in investing in tourism and is expecting attractive project proposals from Georgia. President Mikheil Saakashvili and his advisers have already held meetings with potential investors during a recent trip to Qatar.

European Investment Bank ready to finance railway in Armenia

During a meeting with Armenia’s Transport Minister Manuk Vardanian representatives of the European Investment Bank expressed their readiness to start negotiations on allotting Euro 120 million for the construction of the Ashtarak-Gumri railway line. This line could become part of the north-south corridor which will establish a direct link between Armenia’s border with Iran and the Georgian Black Sea ports of Poti and Batumi.

The first tranches of the existing loan allotted by the Asian Development Bank will be spent on rehabilitating the Yerevan-Ararat and Yerevan-Ashtarak segments. The next ones will be spent on the Ashtarak-Gumri and Goris-Kapanis segments. The overall cost of the project should be around USD 962 million.

German-Austrian company ILF has prepared the construction plan and PADECO has elaborated the feasibility study.

Anaklia Coastal Park construction project

2009, Anaklia (Samagrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Georgia).
Status: in progress.
Scope of the work: site study, landscape design and construction project for a coastal park and promenade on the coast of the Black Sea.
Customer: Samegrelo Zemo Svaneti Government.
Budget: 16.500.000 euros.
Scope: the project covers over 4 km of coastline.
Singular characteristics: Anaklia is located on the coast of the Black Sea and on the shore of the Inguri river. Thanks to its favourable climate and beautiful landscape, the coastal region has enormous potential to boost the development of Samagrelo-Zemo Svaneti after the consequences of the serious territorial conflicts it has suffered in the past. The project covers both the creation of a new seafront and the regeneration of the landscape of an extensive wetland area as a public park. This new seafront runs from Samagrelo-Zemo Svaneti to the Tikori river and a new pedestrian footbridge crosses the mouth of the river Inguri.

Georgian president plants sapling in olive garden in Kakheti Region

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili attended Friday presentation of the olive plantation in the village of Mashnaari of Sighnaghi district in Kakheti Region. The idea of laying out the olive garden in Georgia belongs to Geolive Turkish Company, founder of which is Georgian by origin.
Almost all residents of the village participated in laying out the olive plantation. An olive processing plant will also be constructed in Sighnaghi district in 2-3 years.
The Georgian president talked to the residents of Mashnaari about their problems. Mikheil Saakashvili also planted an olive sapling in the garden.
The locals asked the president to resolve the water supply problem in the village. Saakashvili promised them that the government will provide Mashnaari with water supply system very soon.
`Each new company creates new jobs and employing people is the main priority of our country`, Saakashvili said.

President opens Chamber of Control in Kutaisi

Georgian president attended the opening ceremony of a new Chamber of Control of Georgia in Kutaisi today. The head office is situated on Irakli Abashidze Street. The idea to move the Chamber of Control from Tbilisi to Kutaisi was voiced by the president last year and over three million GEL was spent on the implementation of the project.
Sixty people now work at the office and the openings will be announced for forty vacant new positions soon.
The State Road Department will be also located in the same building.
Georgian president visited several other points in Kutaisi today, including the Bagrati Temple.

President Opens New Building of Roads Department in Kutaisi

President Mikheil Saakashvili has opened a new building of the Roads Department in the city of Kutaisi, Imereti region.
The new building is equipped with modern technique.
Later, the President opened a swimming pool. Kutaisi did not have a swimming pool since the Soviet Union.
Mikheil Saakashvili was also to open Torpedo stadium, though the opening was put off for several days because of bad weather.
