South Sudan after Independence

Just wondering when South Sudan gains its independence, if it will join the British Commonwealth?
They are a former protectorate, so they are entitled to join the BC.
I personally hope they do.

Theres nothing to stop Sudan or a future Southern Sudan from joining the commonwealth, but what would be the point?

By the way can I ask why your map has north africa removed.

There may an economic reasons, but its probably more of a historical/cultural reason.
