BELFAST | North Foreshore Development News

North Foreshore is a 300 acre project, 2 miles from central Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is a former dump site.

The project is divided into two parts.

The Southern part will be a sort of business park, 100 acres. It will be what's called an Eco-business park. Well, 40 acres of the southern bit will be an Eco-business park. There will also be what's called a Mechanical Biological centre, for waste, exciting.

The Northern part, 200 acres, will be used for recreation purposes and nature reserves and open space.

As well as what I am about to show you in the video, which includes details of those three things, there will be a 25 acre sports village consisting of "The proposed Sports Village complex comprises [mini] 4000 seat stadium with restaurant, and corporate function facilities, 70,000 sq ft of commercial let retail, office and educational facilities aimed at sports related business, a number of training pitches, soccer dome, 65 bed hotel".

Amongst what I have mentioned there, there'll be a bowling alley, a 12 screen cinema, and facilities for other sports, I think two tennis courts in with the soccer dome, which will have eight mini soccer pitches. I'm fairly sure.

But I post this, not to impress anyone, but to ask do you think this is a waste of space? I'm for most of the proposals, but I think a too big a portion of the site is used for open space. Especially seeing as it's two miles from central Belfast. Those in charge say as it's a former dump site much of the ground is unsteady. Another guy told me it's not safe to build where there is Methane gas.

In terms of the steadiness of the ground is it IMPOSSIBLE to build on a-former waste dump site?

I'll post a transcript if you can't understand what the girl is saying.
