For me its clearly 4: Aqua. Its innovative and a little organic in shape - but not tot he extent that it clashes with its formal rectangularity.

I quite like 5: Torre Libertad / St. Regis Hotel & Residences for similar reasons, but its formal radius is just a bit too formal to get my vote.

I actually dislike 1, 2 and 3. I find all 3 to be far too stark, bland and intrusive.

Trump and Bank of America are the best. They are beautiful and did good for their skylines. Aqua is interesting, but not particularly attractive. The Chinese World Trade center is classy and tall, but a bit boring and bland. St. Regis is the black sheep here. There isn't really anything remarkable about it, but it's still pretty nice!

Personally I didn't even feel qualified to vote in the nomination round cause there are so many great buildings out there that I wasn't even familiar with. But from the five nominated, my vote has to go to Trump Tower. Aqua is an amazing building, and the way they light it is breathtaking, but I think Trump is just all over class.

Also, people might be interested to see what made the top ten in the Emporis Awards for 2009 - they're winner was Aqua, with some other very interesting buildings but lesser known buildings there as well.

China World Trade Center III has a strong look about it,
Bank Of America Tower for it's pure sleek look,
Aqua for it's inspiring architecture.

I cannot believe that no other more interesting or original skyscraper has been produced in 2009. These are so low aesthetical, environmental and original buildings...

Even China copied the World Trade Center structure that proved wrongly made, it never should have collapsed during september 11... So my question is who really selected those 5 buildings and on which criteria?

Ans I see that buildings in America still look like the buildings we were making 40 years ago. I can only deduct that american architects start to lack culture and originality. We need architects that raise the level of a country architecture... That show evolutions...

See where the original buildings are now made: Dubai, Shangai, London, the Baltics,...
The rest are buildings made with google sketchup. Some extruded profile and some trim functions. What a pity!

We need life in architecture! Use sustainability to make your new buildings, it will give you new and original designs for skyscrapers...

Creo que la Torre del Bank of America y el Trump International and Hotel son los mas impactantes. Sin menospreciar los otros edificios...

I've only seen Trump and Aqua in person, and although I love the design of Aqua, I have to go with Trump overall.
