Hello

I am french and now living in Japan. I have always loved to shoot this country as I find it beautiful and try to share this beauty as I see it. I have been shooting basically since 2004, and most of all what you may call traditional side of the everyday life.

In 2009 I moved to Tokyo for professional reasons. I loved the countryside and never felt at ease in the big city, photographically speaking. Even if Tokyo modern life is filed with typical things, I found it hard to make the images I wanted and close to the beat of the megalopolis.

So I started to document myself and especially look at other people photographic work there, read a lot and get in touch with different peoples and events, different social realities. I took me some time to get my eye used the way I want to go forward, but 2010 will be a year of many pictures here - I am ready

In my search I found two sharing communities to be particularly useful for Tokyo images : open minded, international and talented - flickr and here. So after over a year of lurking and contemplating great images here I think it is time to give back a bit and share my past images.

I mostly have Japan images but I will also post some from France or India, plus Bali is coming soon ...

Before I start, one important notice : I will post basic size images here, but a click on the image will take you to my website , there you can select "1920x" for much larger images (a cookie will remember that, do it only once). If you can I strongly advise to see the image in HD there. You will also find a few explanations and links to understand better the subject.

Enough talk, I hope you enjoy the trip ! Comments and critics are for sure more than welcome !

well, why not, but I am afraid it will be a nuisance for people with less-than-HD resolution or slow connection ... I use 2560x1600 so for me it is very small indeed

Good job man! These are splendid photos. BTW, I'm also in Japan right now, originally from the Philippines. Here studying and I also take photos as a hobby. Not quite as good as you though haha. But I will post some photos here too.

about my gear, plese refer to my FAQ page on my website
the India pictures have been shot with 20D and 18-50 sigma 2.8, canon 50 1.4, sigma 70-200 2.8
the 2008/2009 Japan ones have been shot with 1D mk3, mostly with 85 II, then 70-200 2.8 and 24 1.4
now I shoot 1D mk4, 85 II and 200 2.0 mostly, 16-35 II and 24 1.4 for wide
I shoot neutral, and D+ (highlights) in ON most of the time

sorry the exif are taken out in my photoshop frame+export scrip, if you want the info on one image in particular just say so

HD for me of course, the picture alone should be at least 1000 pixels wide. Since i have a bigger monitor i wish everybody made the pictures at least 1600 or bigger!
