I believe they check your passport and stuff so you can't enter Makkah. People who use fake certificates of Muslim identity to enter Makkah will be prosecuted.

I see the motorways are horizontaly and verticaly well marked; also motorways seems to have blue sign. Sign applies only to muslim
js excellent. Red colour represent importance of sign. I think the world does not have a lot of signs and roads apply to particular ethnic, religion or social community or separation group on any other base. If someone knows, let write.

UAE-Saudi border - then take 85 route near the Qatar border - through the Hofuf - then 10 route near the Ad Dammam - then 85 route again near the Jubayl - Hafar al Batin - Arar - An Nabk - and finally border point Turayf. I think it is the shortest way. Most of the way is 2+2

Here you can see both the national road number of Saudi Arabia and Mashreq road number (80 M). Mashreq system is similar to European E or Asian A numbering systems but not so well known.

I'm not sure how frequently different countries in Middle East are using it. It's common to sign Mashreq roads in Syria (they have even replaced national road numbers on some roads with these numbers) and seems that also in Saudi Arabia. I think that I have also seen some of the Mashreq signs in Jordan but not 100 % sure.
If anyone knows which countries are actually and frequently posting these numbers it would be interesting to know.

Wow... talk about putting one religion above all others.

So I couldn't visit Makkah as a tourist if I wasn't Muslim?

Coming from a multicultural, multireligious society, this baffles me.

Actually both Makkah and Medinah are off-limits for non-muslims.
