i really liked the old design but i just hope it gets built eventhough it's not the tallest in the world. I just want to see more super tall in seoul as soon as possible.

Just to let you guys know, the deal with the Korean Air Force is to limit the building height to 540m, and building an anti-aircraft installation on the roof. I wouldn't be worrying about some F-16 crashing into the building, because this building is mean and armed with missiles.

As for the progress, they'll start receiving new applicants beginning Feb. 2005.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government was to select an applicant that will build the IBC, but rejected all three applicants, citing reasons that all of them don't meet the qualifications. The SMG will restart the bidding proccess for the IBC project in Feb. 2005 with more articulate qualification standards.

Is it still unclear what will happend, or has the tower been reduced in height, or have they changed the design completely to a 300m tower as i saw in some renderings?

Got some new info today. The public bidding has been delayed to 2007. A correspondent from the Seoul Metropolitan Government said the IBC site will be developed last in the DMC Project, so that there is plenty of developed residential zones around the site when the public bidding starts.

so it's not shure that the tower will get build? or is the bidding because of the construction site?

I don't represent the Seoul Metropolitan Government(SMG hereafter) so I can't give any assurances... but my guess is that since the SMG declined all the past public biddings because the bidders allocated too much space of the proposed project to residential purposes, the SMG would first develop the residential zones around the area first, before starting the public bidding of the IBC project. Regardless, the IBC site remains as it is, and the demand for it is very high.

우선협상대상자에 '서울랜드마크'

(서울=연합뉴스) 박성진 기자 = 서울 상암동 'DMC(디지털미디어시티)'에 국내 최고 높이로 들어설 예정인 '랜드마크빌딩' 용지공급 우선협상대상자로 한국교직원공제회 등이 참여한 서울랜드마크컨소시엄이 최종 선정됐다.

서울시는 30일 DMC기획위원회를 열어 이같이 결정했다고 밝혔다.

시는 이에 앞선 지난 28일 랜드마크빌딩 용지(3만7천280㎡) 공급대상자 선정 실무위원회를 열어 입찰 에 참가한 2개 컨소시엄의 사업계획을 평가, 서울랜드마크컨소시엄을 우선협상 후보사업자로 선정했다.

DMC기획위원회는 그러나 이날 심의에서 서울랜드마크컨소시엄에 세계적인 건축물이 될 수 있도록 디자인과 설계 등을 보완하도록 했으며, 이를 위해 설계 국제 공모를 권장했다.

또 공공성 등을 확보할 수 있도록 관련전문가로 MA(총괄조정)위원회를 구성, 전반적인 사업 추진과정에 참여하도록 하고, 토지 제공가격을 추가 협의가 가능하면 제안입찰가격보다 높은 가격으로 받을 수 있도록 권고했다.

이에 따라 서울랜드마크컨소시엄측은 오는 9월 중순까지 서울시와 매매 금액 등을 협의한 뒤 토지공급 계약을 맺고 'DMC 랜드마크빌딩' 건설공사를 내년 착공, 2014년 완공할 예정이다.

서울랜드마크컨소시엄은 이번 입찰에서 '새 천년을 향한 빛(Seoul lite)'이라는 주제로 이 곳에 3조4천억원의 사업비를 들여 백화점과 컨벤션센터, 호텔, 주상복합아파트 등을 갖춘 지하 9층, 지상 133층, 높이 640m의 건물을 짓는 사업계획을 제안한 바 있다.

그러나 이번 심사에서 탈락한 글로벌랜드마크 컨소시엄측이 평가 결과에 반발하고 담합 의혹을 제기하며 향후 소송도 불사하겠다는 입장이어서 사업 추진에 차질을 빚을 가능성도 배제할 수 없다.
