I think Brick Lane and Camden Town are the most interesting parts of London Thanks for the pics, S.Fairy.

^nah Camden's trapped in the 90s still (when it was huge), but not in a good way. Think 1990s cybergoths and tourists Camden is possibly the least fashionable area in London, in terms of street style anyway.

By looking at the title I thought it would be a thread of the US-Mexico border or Ceuta and Melilla.

Nice tour, it seems that London is as plagued by hipsters as Paris

ps: Sorry to un-bury this old thread but since I looked at the photos I guess the author deserved a comment.

great variety of things! London is so enormous, that this market could be considered a small town!

Awesome area of Longon. Was here in '07 by myself, wandered around til i found an industrial design exhibit by some art students. Loaded up on free cocktails and then wandered around some more. I feel like this was the most alternative area of London that I visited, akin to El Raval in Barcelona, LES/Williamsburg in NY, or East Berlin

First of all congratulations to Spliff for such wonderful photos. I love this area of London, and although the crowds on Sunday afternoons have to be seen to be beleived it truly is one of the best places to be.

However, I've got to disagree with this being one of the "poorest" parts of London. Sure, there is plenty of deprivation in the surrounding council estates - particularly going up towards the proper east beyond Whitechapel tube station.

But Brick Lane/Spitalfields are vibrant, commercial districts. There's loads of money flying around - and many of the hipsters in the photos who live in the area alongside the Bangladeshi community are from well-off families. Private rents are among the highest in London. However what people from overseas often fail to realise is because of our system of council (social) housing, the poor really do rub shoulders with the rich in central London.

The really poor areas of London are much furthur out - zone 3 or more.
