What exactly are they doing right now to the museum? It almost looks like they are ahead of schedule.

"9/11 Memorial
· Plaza
This week roughly 1,000 cubic yards of soil for the plaza has been delivered to the job site, a portion of the soil was for phase 3D adjacent to the North Pool. Plaza stone paving installation is restarting at phase 2A of the plaza. The miscellaneous metals contractor is currently installing trench grading at plaza phase 3A. The irrigation contractor is installing piping at area 3D of the plaza where soil was just delivered.
· Pavilion
The Pavilion concrete contractor has placed core walls up to the 3rd level of the Pavilion; a total of 500cy was placed this week. The structural steel contractor is continuing with the installation of the grand stair that leads into the Museum at the 284' level; they are currently installing the stair treads. The electrical contractor is currently installing conduits and back boxes into the 3rd floor metal deck. The secondary steel at the Pavilion atrium is continuing to be installed at the northwest corner of the building.
· North Quadrant
The bronze name parapet installation is going to continue at the north area of the North Pool. Piping for the bronze parapet heating and cooling system is being installed and pressure tested inside the north fountain tunnel. The fountain filter pumps are currently being wired in the north pump room. The drywall contractor is installing 2hr rated sheet rock enclosures at the north 284' level area. The mechanical contractor is welding piping at A/C units in the north mechanical room.
· South Quadrant
The surveying and layout for the south portion of the west vent structure for the curtain wall has been completed. The curtain wall contractor has started drilling holes for the installation of their anchor plates at the west vent structure. The installation of stair A1 by the miscellaneous metals contractor is continuing inside the west vent structure. The carpentry contractor is continuing ceiling framing in the south canyon. The waterproofing contractor is installing rubber mats at the south fountain tunnels. The plumbing contractor is installing the water harvesting tank piping at the 264' level. The installation of 16" fiberglass pipe for the south pool is nearly complete and work continues for fountain piping in the south pump room. Electrical work continues at the east spot network with the installation of conduit and pulling of electrical feeders for the new switchgear. "

Obviously the design of the roof of the museum has changed since the rendering on page 1 of this thread. Is there a new render, or even a description of the plan for the roof? There now is an escalator/stairway structure leading up there.

I have also been wondering about this, maybe it is for temporary access for the workers?

I don't really think they allow visitors to go up there.

I'm pretty sure that the final design is slightly different from the renders. The white metal beams of the grid of the front facade is not the same as the renders as well, and that is only the most obvious part. So there might have been some changes. It is possible that they have modified the design to allow visitors on the roof. After all, it will have an amazing view once the site is completed.
On the other hand I might be just imagining things haha
