Well, definately the roof needs some more work, and the part below the metal cladding. Rest is interior work..

That side cladding looks like the vertical stripes of a fallen WTC Tower. Haunting.

Looks stunning Still a bit pissed I'll be there 2 months early. But now I have a reason to return for the 3th time, when the place will be a bit less crowded than during the opening days.

About this time two years ago I was in nyc, and at ground zero there was barely anything there just the start of the base of 1 wtc and now there is so much going on it just amazes me how fast it has grown in just two years

Maybe just my interpretation seeing the cladding of the memorial building. Like Bricken Ridge I see a hint of the fallen WTC facades and the pixelated design even hints to the holes made by the aircraft ? Not sure if that's the intention.....I understand it's a sensitive issue but just what I see..........

In all honesty to me the facade of the memorial does look like the facade of the old wtc, but thats just my opinion

You Know, i would have to agree with you on your statement. I mean the facade looks like the Twin Towers facade and where the windows are looks like the airplane hole. I must say you have a great eye.

I can't wait to see more trees planted. Seems like there are lots of spots ready for them.

Wow, I can't believe the museum is almost finished on the exterior! I didn't realise the exterior had so much meaning (that falling tower with a hole in it), it's just striking... A very good memorial.

Whilst I very much agree that the fašade of the pavilion is meant to resemble that of the old Twin Towers, I have huge doubt that the windows are meant to symbolise a hole arising from an aeroplane impact. If people get that impression then fair enough, but I highly doubt in was the architects intention.

To be honest, as soon as the comparison to the WTC's color/structure was made, I immediately thought of the windows as the plane impact hole. It has the same diagonal slant to it as the actual impact hole in the south tower and there is a similar "hole" on the other side of the pavilion. As this is the 9/11 memorial, one would expect some subtle but real allusions to the events of that day. Whether this was the architect's intention or not is another story:the fact remains that the similarity is so striking that it can't just be coincidence.

Another one of my symbolic interpretations of the pavilion is that the northeastern glass "corner" of the structure represents the blue sky of that day, and the haphazardly placed beams are meant to evoke the crushing steel of the twins during their collapse.
