What really makes me sad however happy at the same time is that for many this is the only thing they have. Especially in Oties pic there that man, it shows just how much this memorial means to them.

Is this memorial open 24/7 now? Or if not 24 hours is it open everyday from now?

The trees were trimmed before Hurricane Irene reached New York so they have a conical shape. They are 5 years old, hence their robust scale.

I think the grounds will be open in areas that don't conflict with other construction but the museum on site won't be fully open for another year. You are required to apply for a visitor's pass though. And the memorial is not open 24 hrs.

Know what you mean. Reminds me of the famous quote from Herbert Morrison 'Oh the Humanity'.

That's what I thought at first too. But I doubt it. Really happy to see that everything is going OK so far today. I hope all the victim's families are satisfied with the Memorial.

It is amazing. I went there on June but couldn't view inside. Can't wait to see all the buildings completed. Just have a question, they will leave this memorial like this in the winter or convert to ice skating like they did at Rockefeller Center?

The reflecting pools are heated in the winter and will run year-round.

A very fitting memorial to all the inocent lives lost on that tragic day!!!! I visited on july 11th 2003 and was very moved by just being there. I will return when the museum is open and pay my respects. R.I.P.

Probably not the best place, but these are a few pictures shot at the 9/11 commemoration held in Padua (some 25 miles from Venice, Italy) in front of the 9/11 Daniel Libeskind Memorial.

The monument ideally represents the book of the american constitution opened on one of its darkest pages, synthesized by a steel bar coming from one of the towers donated a few years ago to the Veneto region.

The man speaking is the US consul in Milan Daniel Weygandt.

Sorry to everyone here. But judging by renders of the Flight 93 memorial. I kind of like it better.
