Awesome "behind the scenes" construction photos. Thanks for posting, Otie!

Did you notice if any of the trees appear to be in bad shape? From the web cams some appeared to start turning brown back in July and many looked to be quite brown by the middle of August. But I never see much brown on visitors' photos, nor any mention from visitors, so perhaps the web cams exaggerate it. Workers did replace a tree (blue arrow) near the SW corner of the south pool a month or two ago after it lost its leaves. Its neighbor (red arrow) isn't looking good from far away:

Hopefully the browning trees are just changing color early due to stress and will do better next year. If some try to hold dead leaves through the winter, then that will be a sign that those are in trouble. The only one that really stands out in various visitors' photos is the one on the left:
The trees looked very healthy! The brown you see seems to be normal as most of the trees have them. They are just a different color but you can see the leafs are healthy and not drying out or anything like that. I have often wondered about this myself.

Some of the trees were starting to change. The one on the photo seemed to be showing this more then most. It was hard to tell if it was sick or just changing. It was very full and most of the leafs were yellow.

Excellent. Since I hadn't seen any reports on the trees, I was hoping it was a case of "no news is good news", and you confirmed that.

I find it very interesting that these trees are actually not in solid ground. Maybe that's having a effect on the trees.

I'm still a little confused as to the purpose of those 2 gray monstrosities on the edge of the memorial, near the grassy area. If the pavilion with the tridents is the entrance to the underground museum, then what are those 2 other structures for?

I am sure the trident columns were recorded and marked before being demolished and stored before being moved to the new memorial pavilion building. Does anyone know where these particular pieces were located in the original WTC facade ? I have vivid memories of the lower facades standing amongst the rubble after 9/11.

There the vent structures for the site.

They´re PATH exhaust vents; inside there are also emergency exit stairs from the Memorial; the roof of both structures has a rain water collection system.

With all to respect they are really not the vent structors , those two buildings are the command center for the NYPD, Military, and The WTC Security.

I know that the blue prints say it is a vent structor but in reality they are not.

you sound like somebody's playing a joke on you.
