Look back a couple of pages.. before they put on the metal cladding (which is transparent for air), you could see the holes in the roof..

however, I would not be surprised if they were used for WTC security as well. But for military...

why then did they make a " Vent System" with reinforced steel and 3 feet thick conqrete? I mean i am from a family that past and now 90 percent of us are from construction background and none of us had ever seen all this work for a vent system, for the buildings them selves like towers1,2,3,4, is understandable .

They are first and foremost vent structures. They are one of two main places that will vent the underground areas of the complex. The other being out the roof of the Memorial Pavilion. Yes they also serve other purposes listed above including Security and Emergency Exits.

If they where not ventilation structures there would be vent stacks all over the Memorial grounds. This was once on the table as part of the design but thankfully they consolidated them to these two areas instead.

One of the things I was not permitted to photograph was the security office located on the left corner of the larger of the two vent structures that are along West Street.

Here is the vents in the Pavilions Roof.

Just because the have a hole in the middle of them that looks like stacks doesnt mean that they are really vent structores. I am a fifth generation construction worker and i can tell you that there are building like that and that they an empty void in the middle of them.

The vent shafts don't take the whole space, true, there are also two emergency egress stairs and a freight elevator. One of those structures houses the vent for the south PATH tubes (the out bound vent is located at the west side of the north half core of Tower One). I can't confirm that there will be a security command center, but there is indeed empty space (most of it as rooms) that can be used for security purposses.

Any information on these three lonely trees positioned at the Welcome Site south of the VSC (visible on the KPI TV webcam)? Will they be planted soon or stay there during winter??

My guess is that they are just there to make the welcome area look a bit more welcoming. The yet-to-be-planted trees still at the nursery in NJ are in those giant pots too, so it probably doesn't matter where they are located while waiting to be planted. Perhaps these three will be the last to get planted, or have some other special significance?

Thanks, Kanto.

A new crane is assembled in the south bathtub (VSC site), looks like a Manitowoc 14000 or something similar!
