That was me, based on observations of trees in my yard. Doing a little digging, I see that this phenomenon is called marcescence, and can be caused by diseases, pests, or an early freeze. And for some species of trees, it's normal - especially in younger trees...

Oh cool, good info. Hopefully that means all the trees down there are healthy.

The design on the side of the small building (forgot what it's called) looks a bit like the old WTC facade.

A lot of pouring takes place today at the NE corner of the memorial. Hopefully we see some new trees there in the near future, it has been a while since the last ones were arriving at the site..

Yes, it has a very sleek and modern industrial look that echos the facade of the the old WTC, doesn't it? It looks very good from ground level. I hope it opens soon.

The only question I ask, is why they went with such a literal representation of the disaster when you look at those windows and facade. A bit too close to reality for my liking. Should have gone more abstract!

The site needs tower 3 badly to cover up that vomit inducing brown tower behind.

I saw that yesterday on the cam, and thought (and hoped for) the same thing with the new trees. It seems like they only need one more section of pouring of cement.

Speaking of...this isn't the "finished product" of cement though, right??? It seems to be a different color/shade from the product of cement that's already in the open part of the memorial area.

They laid out pavers on top of the cement, I guess they will do it on the NE part as well, probably after the trees have been planted.

Looks like (from the webcam) they dropped off 16 pallets of bricks near the area that needs bricks. Hopefully we'll see them installing them soon.

The two footprint waterfalls, the names on the railings, the memorial & museum building that looks like a broken down verson the original WTC.
It is all realy emotional an brilliant architecture. Love the project, and hope to see it with my own two eyes one day.
Last time i was in New York was by the way 05/09/2001, as a crewmember and a motorman apprentice on the SS Norway, so in my mind the two towers are still there.
So i still can't believe.
