They're working on bollards and curbs as part of the Final Streets and Sidewalk Surface contract program.

They've also been placing lots of bollards in the south-west corner, and now they prepared something which could be the future sidewalk on the south side..

There is also a pour happening through the gap in the roof of the pavilion.. it's been a while now since we saw any progress there, I had thought they'd finish the roof before winter, but that's obviously not the case

The slowness of the Pavilion roof is driving me crazy. I noticed recently that this render shows that the ugly garage thing will be visible from a fairly low angle as viewed from the north. Will probably be even worse from the west.

it is beyond me to understand how is it that electrical rooms are not water proof with or without threat from Sandy once they are underground. it is soooo basic that I have no idea how it is overlooked.

Ugly garage thing? This is a sectional view showing how the PATH hall is connected to the transit hall.

The closets are a work in progress, sealing occurs once everything is completed, water managed to get inside.

Which roof? Pavilion or PATH?

PATH roof won't be complete until 2Q 2013.

Pavilion Roof. See above. I assume the slowness is related to the delay that we had in the museum itself due to that financial dispute.

I know the trees are planted in concrete treeboxes, and from what I remember seeing before the trees were planted, the boxes weren't all that large. Say in 50-75 years the trees get really big, and their roots start digging into the concrete, and uproot the pavers. Is there a plan to deal with this, or would they just prune the roots?

Kind of an odd question, thanks!

great question.
The tree boxes do not have solid sides. It's more like four composite book shelves in a square without a back. There are square spaces between the horizontal and vertical sections. I wish I could upload a picture. The surface under the pavers is actually a concrete slab. If you look to the north of the pavilion, you can see this slab. The roots are free to grow down the length of the row of trees as there is no division between trees on a east to west basis. I have a model to hopefully help you out.

Perfect, that answers my question, thank you sir! It looks like the trees will have enough room to grow in the years to come, guess that means it'll be a lush forest by then.

I think I remember reading somewhere that the roots are braced to prevent damage.

Swamp white oak are expected to live 100 years if you take care of them as they deserve.

the smoke has diminished since then. Everything seems to be under control. The site is blocked off and emergency responders are all in position.

It looks like it was coming from that bunch of blue trailers just north of the Pavillion.
