^ It's chilling, I imagine it being an incredible sight when fully finished.

I can't wait to visit this museum. I know I'm gonna be balling my eyes out though. I can't even watch YouTube news footage from 9/11 because I cry lol

Really? I don't see a new one (and I've been checking the webcams most of the day ), there is one outside the fence, but this one has been there for a year or so. The fence has been moved some weeks ago, so maybe that's why this tree appears to be newly planted.

They started distributing the pavers, so new trees could arrive soon, maybe in June.

I wonder if they will even bother with the trees this year unless they are planning on opening the remainder of the plaza this year even though the museum won't open until next spring....It's getting late in the season for trees...

Can't they try again in late fall, oct-nov-dec? Unless you mean for this year's anniversary.

Well I mean they can plant then whenever they want the first set before the plaza opened was done around this time and throughout the summer I believe but the best times are early spring before blooming for fall..so we will see

Idk if its just me but it looks like they have put quite a bit more of the paver down on the unfinished corner of the memorial, can anyone confirm and also when is that part set to be finished/opened to the public? Hopefully they won't wait for the museum to open...

I noticed that too, it's refreshing to see so much progress with all the delays, lets hope that it opens ASAP

The weather/lighting conditions are just right to make the new pavers stand out at the moment:

A mobile crane has arrived to place the trees. 10 new trees have arrived, good to see the southern end of the memorial along Liberty Street taking shape!

For those who don't have the webcam link at hand:

Sorta off-topic...

I had an idea. Back in May 2000, when my wife and I first met when I was working at the WTC, there was a picture my coworkers took of us at the base of 1, leaning on one of the perimeter columns. As sort of an anniversary thing, I wanted to take a picture of us standing in the exact same location, which was on the south face of the tower. It's the first row of trees next to the pools that is the "true" footprint of the tower, correct?

The original picture showed us, and the North Tower towering above. I wanted to take a similar picture, but with 1WTC (and of course, the North Fountain).

The first row marks the true dimensions of the towers but are slightly off from the original footprints. Pools are aligned with NYC streets, towers were alligned at their own way. Barely noticeable.

In the future: will memorial plaza be publicly accessible or will tickets be needed?

Memorial Plaza will be open and free to the public but with a heavy police presence.

Museum will require 25 dollar tickets.
