well there is already a metroline towards binhai and there is an above rail link for whole of TEDA, which xiangluowan and yujiapu are parts of as far as i know.

edit: ok i looked at a map and the link only goes north and both areas are south of the metro link.

I am aware of that. However I'm sure there must be some sort of rapid transit link within both CBDs. There is no way there won't be any metro/rail link there.

I think huge construction (not huge construction project) tends to produce a rectilinear pattern, unless the geography forces otherwise.

Huge construction projects seem to be laid out in differently, where a theme of some kind extends down to the street level.

Grid patterns, from scratch, also are the easiest and cheapest patterns to lay brown, grey, and, fresh water lines; buried power, and, buried optical fiber systems.

Thanks. Any chance to translate and elaborate on what those lines seen on the map are going to be?

For the longest time this area looked dull and grey, great to see it come more alive with some color! I'm surprised there isn't some type of streetcar/tram system built into the streets. I can't tell from the maps and pictures how accessible this district will be for people without using a car.

The parks/gardens remain my favorite aspect of this development. It's something I wish Shanghai had a bit more of. Imagine if Suzhou Creek were this accessible!

Pretty much anywhere in urban China is accessible by bus. I would be very surprised if there aren't bus stops within the district. There is a metro stop about 3km away. The high-speed rail station will open next year. There is an extensive metro system planned for the area that should start construction any year now.

This place is actually beginning to look more alive! The area especially by the river is done very well. Expectations are now rising... I want to see a busy city with traffic jams! I love playing SimCity.

Wow, THIS is development. Looking good now, just needs more people to make it look alive otherwise it looks like a giant ghost town.

Are some of the buildings functional already?
