That report is not legally binding. I read somewhere else GVB argues Amsterdam subway tunnels are much safer than the ones in London, Paris or Berlin as an argument not to shut down the tunnels for a couple years.

I was lucky to be invited to the 1st press ride on the new M5 metro. This was the 1st time ever that non Alstom/Amsterdam Metro personal could make a ride on this brand new train.

Very nice indeed.

I didn't get a chance to use the Metro while in Amsterdam. I did use the trams a lot too. Very expensive for a ticket!

Loved the rail link into Schipol too, Amsterdam is a very impressive city.

Buying a single 1-hour ticket is indeed expensive if you don't actually travel for about an hour.
It's their way of discouraging its use, and moving people to rechargeable chipcards.

Cool timelapse of the construction of a part of the Noord-Zuidlijn: part of the tunnel (or station?) is built above ground and is slowly lowered into place. This video covers 11 months and 500.000 pictures.

Would somebody please explain me why metro line 50 terminates at the isolated Isulatorweg, when it is only a short distance from the existing metro lines, 51, 53 and 54, sub surface station at the Central station.
There don´t even appear to be plans to extend it.

Line 50 was never supposed to be a full circle line, not even in the original ambitious plans of the late '60s.

A connection from Isolatorweg to Centraal Station has been looked at, and it turns out it would mainly just take away train passengers from the Sloterdijk-Centraal Station stretch, so it would an unnecessary extra connection.

In more recent plans the idea is to extend it from Isolatorweg to Amsterdam-Noord, to actually connect new areas to the metro network, and offer a transfer to the Noord-Zuidlijn.

The last of the 8 bored tunnels has been finished in the night from friday on saturday.

The combination of the very weak soil (basicly a swamp) with the old houses on wooden poles (10-12 meters deep) made the process very challenging. "If we can do it here, it can be done all over the world" according to one of the most important international specialists with TBM's.

Last year I bought a Gopro cam, or actually a Sony HDR-AS15 to use it on my hard hat on the construction sites and on the train that goes to the TBM's. Here are the results:

On the train, 3 out of 5 underground stations visible:

On my hard hat, going under the historical Amsterdam Central Station.

Nice films.

Do you know if they will open the line all at once, or in parts? Also, will they stop the ferries from Amsterdam Noord once the line opens?

Thanks!

They will open the new line all at once in 2017. The ferries with still continu in the future, especially for people with their bicycles very useful.
