British Colonial architecture in India

Hi everyone. I'm not sure if this is the right section for this thread. But what the hell. I like this section.

Here's a nice Anglican Church in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh. Dates from 1842.
Currently run by the Diocese of Amritsar (Church of Northern India)

^Army cantonments in India usually have lots of colonial-era residences originally built for British officers. A lot of them are in terrible condition now, sadly.

That first picture looks like it should be in Wiltshire. Excellent.

This is an interesting one. You could call it Mughal-revival if you want.

Government museum, Chennai. Not sure of the exact dates. Seems to have been modified on a number of occasions.

Since we're in Shimla, here's the Viceregal Lodge (1888). Built as a summer residence for the Viceroy of India. Today it houses the Institute of Advanced Studies. Architect is Henry Irwin.

Yes, but churches and terraces built for homesick imperialists are boring and I see them everyday anyway.

British colonial architecture is best when mixed with local styles, its such shame to see beautiiul buildings in such poor condition when i was in india, but then it was worse to see the population in such poor conditions. There does seem a movememnt to restore and use these buildings though.
