Just got woken up by a 4.0 quake about two miles from here this morning in Berkeley

they're so routine here it's crazy!

If you're near the Hearst Mining Building when you feel the next quake - go see how the base isolation functions. An amazing old building with a very extensive, relatively new seismic isolation system. I'd love to witness or see a video of the "moat" around the building change width as the quakes happened. I never had a class in their but I'd still walk in just to enjoy the entry hall. My sister had part of her dorm ceiling come down back in the '89 Loma Prieta quake - scary. I think she was in Deutsch Hall.

8-story apartment, about 100 units.

They have a big mobile crane today. Wonder if a tower crane is going up.

I went by there yesterday morning, but didn't see any sign of a base for the tower crane.

Just a guess, but maybe it's going in the public ROW rather than the building footprint? That might be less visible.

The mobile crane onsite today has a very long boom. Hard to imagine a reason other than installing a 120' crane or whatever it is.

Alright I moved The Martin to "under construction" since they've started digging. What else needs to be changed?

Probably could move Alto to the completed.

Can't we move 2nd and Stewart to under construction? And can we possibly change the rendering for the North Lot to the actual design instea of the massing proposal that's there now?

By 2nd and Stewart, I'm assuming you're talking about 1915 Second. I think the general rule here is that projects aren't added/moved to the "Under Construction" section until excavation work begins, but I'm not 100% certain about that.

Done.

I wasn't thrilled with the quality of the North Lot renderings on their website - they either showed a fuzzy-looking overview or a sharp-looking close-up, but they didn't have a sharp-looking overview. So I went with the fuzzy overview.

Yah I meant 1915 Second. I called it 2nd and Stewart because that's what it's called on the 1st page. And I thought demo of the building in that location was sign enough that construction was starting.

Sorry I thought this was the United Methodist Church sanctuary down in the Financial District, but it's apparently another old church on Capitol Hill. Anyway it's still a cool building and has a nice Web site:

I wonder what the UMC Sanctuary will end up being used for. Hopefully a concert hall of some sort.
