Umm vietnamese people. Let's explain this for a minute. I'm not going to ban you because you speak Vietnamese. It kinda was a rough warning. JUST TO SAY THAT YOU HAVE TO SPEAK ENGLISH IN THIS SECTION OF THE FORUM. So that we can just understand each other okay Now all calm down, and don't call me your buddy or anything... this is seriously not the right moment to do so, trust me.

It's a bit sad that these pipe dreams continue to overshadow the amazing (and real) Hanoi Landmark Tower...

When I look at these renders, towers are looking like at least 400+ meters.

Seems to me that it the 300m figure is for the smaller tower on the first render.

Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects to design PetroVietnam HQ in Hanoi
Published: 06-Apr-2011

source: WIDN

Quote:
US-based Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects has been chosen to design new headquarters for the subsidiary of Vietnam's national Oil and Gas Company, PetroVietnam Oil and Gas Group, in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Dubbed as PetroVietnam Tower, the structure is claimed to become the city's tallest building. It will be designed for PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation, the subsidiary of PetroVietnam Oil and Gas Group.

The 79-storey tower will house the company's headquarters and a luxury hotel. The tower will feature a distinctive silhouette. It is designed as a hexagonal structure at the base, becoming triangular at the top. An adjacent 84,000-square-meter podium is also featured that is composed of curving forms. It will include a petroleum museum and media center, shops, and a skating rink. A 47-storey residential tower with curved facades and a sloping top will be built at the opposite end of the podium.

The structure will be designed as sustainable and will target LEED Gold certification. A glass wall will be featured inside that will enable visitors to view some of the building's high-performance systems in operation. A portion of the podium roof will be clad with photovoltaic panels. The building will also feature advanced structural design technology, which will enable it to withstand a severe earthquake. The project is expected to break ground by the end of 2011.

Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects were chosen following an international competition. PetroVietnam Tower is the firm's second project in Vietnam with the first being Vietcombank Tower currently under construction in Ho Chi Minh City.
