built in 1918. the only remaining french-inspired building after the world war II. almost demolished back in early 2000. currently being revived as a commercial building (casino as rumored).

The minaret is exactly 210 meters tall, what makes you think the opposite ? You should start reading more before making wrong assumptions

True, but the point is that a minaret is not a skyscraper: in the case everyone could even list bell towers, pagodas, pyramids, castles and so on

I hear there are discussions on what could be considered as a building that could be posted here. I’ll clear it up: When I started this tread my intention was to see the first high building of every country in the modern era. So I don't want to see minarets or churches or other historical or ancient buildings. Lets say we post buildings build during/after the industrial revolution. Buildings that where build with steel and concrete, in the modern era. Buildings that are inhabitable and used for living/offices/shopping

No, it looks American. The stepped-back facade (NYC zoning influence), the stripped classicism of the main shaft, the use of a "crown" are all American details. The style of the ornament reflects traditional Spanish architecture.

I really don't understand why anyone would have a problem admitting American influence in for Christ's-sake skyscrapers! They bloody invented the things...
